YouTube and Facebook Live import features discontinued 😔

The Balltime Team
Announcement

Hey Balltimers,

We have some important news to share about our YouTube and FB Live import features, a Balltime functionality we know many of you have come to love and rely on (ourselves included). While this wasn’t an easy decision, we want to be transparent about why we need to discontinue this feature.

Due to some platform changes on YouTube and Facebook’s side in recent months, we have been experiencing a lot of issues keeping these integrations live. Many of you who use this feature would have noticed the increasing amount of delays in recent weeks, which we have tried to curb by A LOT of behind-the-scenes work.

Today, we feel that we’ve reached the limits of what we can do to maintain this feature, and are unfortunately disabling the YouTube and FB Live import features. The good news is that the YouTube export feature remains (it has not been affected by YouTube’s platform changes), so you can still export Balltime videos to your connected YouTube channels.

From our experience in talking to our community of users, it seems as though there were 3 main reasons to upload full videos to YouTube:

  • Uploading to YouTube for easy shareability of the content → we recommend uploading to Balltime, and then exporting to your YouTube channel. The main benefit? Your videos won’t have any downtime because of the Balltime processing.
  • Uploading to YouTube because of its easy/fast uploader → we recommend giving our ios app a try, we’ve made a lot of improvements to our uploader and it’s faster and more reliable than ever before (we know this doesn’t include Android users, and are hoping to have an updated timeline for an Android app release soon)
  • Uploading to YouTube/FB Live for live-streaming → we recommend saving the local copy of your live stream and then uploading to Balltime (most live-streaming apps like ScoreCam and SidelineHD have this feature built into their service). This is already our recommendation for optimal Balltime results, since live streams (particularly on FB live) can get downgraded to lower-quality resolutions, and this negatively impacts Balltime’s ability to get the most accurate results.

If you haven’t recognized yourself in reading the above list, please feel free to reach out to us, we’d be happy to share tips & recommendations (contact@balltime.com).

Once again, please remember that our YouTube export feature is intact, so you can continue to export both highlight videos and full-length videos to your connected YouTube channel.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this, and do trust that we always have your best interests at heart.

All the best,

The Balltime Team
